About Cat…

Growing up in North Charleston, Cat Strickland has been in the middle of it all.  Exposed to all the artistic richness our Low Country has to offer, her heart has belonged to music and theatre ever since she was a little kid. Cat started performing at the young age of three to whoever would pay attention.  At just seven years old, she began her journey with weekly classical voice and guitar lessons, as well as theater classes.  In high school, she was introduced to the Open Mics in Summerville and Charleston.  She participated in all she could find – feeding the urge to perform live.  Right before turning 15, she officially began her live music career at a restaurant in North Charleston and she hasn’t stopped performing music since then.  Fast forward to now – Cat attends Charleston Southern University as a Choral Music Education major to pursue her dream of opening a voice studio and working with school music programs.

Cat’s musical style varies greatly from so many influences – Leading youth worship, listening to all The Beatles albums with her parents – performing in musical theater – to falling for the fun styles of the 80’s, the female powerhouse bands such as Paramore and Heart, and many more genres.

You can usually catch Cat performing solo or with her band The Nine lives at many venues from Charleston to Summerville.  She has recently started writing more original music, although she mostly enjoys reimagining covers in her own style.
